DIVING INTO CULTURE!
Lately I have been travelling to what I would call less common touristic destinations. When I return my mother always asks the typical question "Did you like it?". She doesn`t understand how I can enjoy going on tiring trips, where I barely stop in a single place and lots of things are left to define has reality unfolds. I come back home tired but my soul is always filled with joy. I love mingling with the locals, diving in their culture and participating in their daily habits.
My last destination was Uzbekistan, a country of warm and friendly people located in Central Asia. Its magnificent Mausoleums, Mosques, Minarets and Madrasas are absolutely breathtaking and take us into a fascinating history of the Silk Road.
Khiva (which means drinkable water) was by far my favourite city. It´s a very peculiar mosaic of narrow alleyways that make visitors travel in time and it´s pretty easy to imagine what life might have been like some centuries ago because Khiva still keeps its own pace. I felt like Michael J. Fox since I returned from the future (nowadays) and had the chance to travel to the past. It´s hard to put into words... I can only say I felt goosebumps several times and I could hear some of my grandmother´s stories, as I looked into some faces or watched local people doing their daily chores.
I saw the most genuine smiles and felt that in fact you don´t need much to be happy. Happiness is found in simple things and less is definitely more!
